Colour Dial Signature Carpets collection form fields of colour. Inspired by the transparent glass Colour Dial Table that acts as an abstract sundial, the carpets with geometric compositions of circle, oval and square shapes, have a similar layered expression. Each carpet is an artwork composed of layered spray paint textures and transitioning colours.
My mother recently told me she gave birth to me while focussing on a petal of a bouquet of flowers. In 2005 I graduated with an installation of tulips, laying on hospital beds sucking up coloured liquid. For this ‘Tulip Mania’ collection for Moooi, I used these French tulip petals again as a canvas. Mixing colors, creating different pigments that I ‘feed’ to the tulips, thirsty for water. Petals changing color, keeps on fascinating me. Dissecting the tulips and photographing these on a light box, revealing their coloured veins. Giving birth to these natural lucid structures.

‘Pluck their Petals’ is inspired by the greatest love tragedy whether he loves me – or not. Multiple layers of tulle petals build up a gradient of colour causing a mysterious, yet romantic and dramatic dimension. The technique of layering creates more depth and darkly shadowing in the creases, turning the carpet into a fantasy like destination somewhere between a dream and a nightmare.
