Delftware. Fine, flowing lines of cobalt blue on almost translucent white. Perhaps typically Dutch but heavily influenced by eastern craftsmanship and styles. Like the seventeenth century potters borrowed Asian techniques and attention to detail, these designs make use of Japanese graphic abstractions of cloudy skies. The Dreamstatic Collection was imagined as an interpretation of dreams, in a way that one could remember some details of it but never really figure out what it means. The idea revolves around a set of different patterns from various geometries that are inspired from old oriental rugs, however they reinterpretate them in a modern way while taking advantage of the high precision Moooi Carpet has from printing on the rug. Cirles are circles, triangles are triangles and nothing looks “pixelized”. It therefor gives a clear image of the dream without really bluring out some details. 200 x 300 cm | 78.7 x 118,1″

Diary is a compilation of all the images Broekman has sampled in her work so far. She is always cutting and collecting images: inspiring newspaper and magazines photos, exquisite pieces of wallpaper and family snap shots from her personal albums. “I don’t just look at the literal meaning of an image, but search for form, movement, light, beauty and strength.”
